Deepak Chopra’s The Law of Least Effort

Tuesday, January 27th, 2009

I couldn’t help but re-post this today. A friend of mine had posted it on his Facebook page, and when I read it, I wanted to keep it around. By posting it here, I am sharing it with you and also doing us all the favor of “bookmarking” it. Hope you get something out of it:

Deepak Chopra: The Law of Least Effort

This law is based on the fact that nature’s intelligence functions with effortless ease and abandoned carefreeness. This is the principle of least action, of no resistance. This is, therefore, the principle of harmony and love. When we learn this lesson from nature, we easily fulfill our desires.

In Vedic Science, the age-old philosophy of India, this principle is known as the principle of economy of effort, or “do less and accomplish more.”

Ultimately, you come to the state where you do nothing and accomplish everything. This means that there is just a faint idea, and then the manifestation of the idea comes about effortlessly. What is commonly called a “miracle” is actually an expression of the Law of Least Effort.

Least effort is expended when your actions are motivated by love, because nature is held together by the energy of love. When you seek power and control over other people, you waste energy. When you seek money or power for the sake of the ego, you spend energy chasing the illusion of happiness instead of enjoying happiness in the moment.

When your actions are motivated by love, your energy multiplies and accumulates–and the surplus energy you gather and enjoy can be channeled to create anything that you want, including unlimited wealth. There are three components to the Law of Least Effort–three things you can do to put this principle of “do less and accomplish more” into action.

The first component is acceptance. Acceptance simply means that you make a commitment: “Today I will accept people, situations, circumstances and events as they occur.” This means I will know that this moment is as it should be, because the whole universe is as it should be.

The second component is responsibility. This means not blaming anyone or anything for your situation, including yourself. This allows you the ability to have a creative response to the situation as it is now.
All problems contain the seeds of opportunity, and this awareness allows you to take the moment and transform it to a better situation or thing.

The third component to the Law of Least Effort is defenselessness. This means that you have relinquished the need to convince or persuade others of your point of view. If you relinquish this need you will in that relinquishment gain access to enormous amounts of energy that have been previously wasted.

Domestic Policy Goes International with Global Gag Rule Repealed

Monday, January 26th, 2009

As women-in-transition, we often feel sorry for ourselves, overwhelmed by the obstacles facing us as we attempt to shed our old skins and prepare for the new. We are reminded daily of being treated less fairly than our male counterparts at work, disrespected or unappreciated by the men in our lives and frustrated with our financial situations. However, we MUST remind ourselves that despite the shortcomings that American society may suffer, we are still priviledged to live in the United States - especially during this exciting time in our history. Like many of us, the entire nation is experiencing a transition - a re-examination of who we are and we are about. What we stand for, and what we will stand against. And it remains to be seen who will stick with us, and who will be too weak to do the work that lies ahead.

While we may be overwhelmed by the evidence to the contrary, we do enjoy equal rights in this country - to marry who we please, to educate ourselves, to earn the living we prefer. Rights that millions of women in the world can only dream of.

In one of his first acts as president, Barack Obama has repealed the “Global Gag Rule,” undoing the work of the previous administration whose policy stated that any organization that supported a woman’s right to choose whether or not abort a pregnancy would not receive US aid.

“This policy forced health clinics around the world to choose between providing women and families with health care they desperately needed and getting financial support from the United States. The policy cut off U.S. funds to health clinics unless the clinics agreed not to use their own, private, non-U.S. funds for abortion services, abortion-related advocacy, or even abortion counseling or referrals.”

Whether you agree with this policy or not, the fact remains that in this country, we still get to choose what happens to our bodies; a luxury that many women in the world do not have. They are raped without consequence, and often ostracized because of it. They do not receive proper pre-natal care and must continue with pregnancies they had no desire to create. Is a child concieved in that manner still considered a gift from God? Each one of us will have a different opinon. However, the most important question is that as a woman, do you have control over what happens to your body? For the most part, in this country, the answer is yes. I for one, am eternally grateful for that, and to have a president who supports that right.

I’d Gladly Swap My Engagement Ring For a New Mini-Cooper

I think I could get used to driving around in this.....

I think I could get used to driving around in this.....

Just discovered this new site that I think is AWESOME!

http://www.idonowidont.com was started by a guy whose fiancee ditched him unexpectedly, leaving behind the ring he so lovingly had picked out. Not wanting to continue to let it stare at him mockingly, he knew the only logical thing to do was to sell it. Not content with just selling it, he decided to start a company whereby other, ahem, suddenly detached singles could do the same.

I Do, Now I Don’t can handle the sale of your engagement or wedding ring, as well as any dresses or accessories you might be wanting to unload. They have their own gemologist on staff who will appraise the goods for you and they guarantee a safe, secure transaction.

This is the best thing to happen to breakups since the “pup-nup” (paperwork that determines who gets the pets). Now I just have to decide between convertible or Clubman. Hmmmm.
